With its far reaching views, beautiful gardens and elegant interiors, Broadfield is one of the most special wedding venues in Herefordshire. Broadfield is an exclusive use venue which can be hired for one night, two nights or more to host your celebrations.
Couples looking for an idyllic place to marry have several options.
For larger ceremonies, our fold yard is a lovely outdoor space and can be framed under a canopy or in a bespoke tented structure to create a magical inside/outside setting for your wedding, whatever the season. The fold yard can cater for anything from a small gathering up to over 200 guests, with the wedding ceremony taking place under the loggia. For indoor weddings of up to 100 people, our low beamed upper barn is also available and can be bedecked in fairy lights and foliage to make a magical space.
For smaller ceremonies, Broadfield has two beautiful rooms within the house. Our drawing room can hold up to 60 guests and has a full length bay window with views out onto the David Austin rose garden; our inner hall can host up to 50 guests and is framed by a huge, elegant stone fireplace – both will make incredible back drops for your big day. Or we also have a lovely summer house in our gardens for intimate ceremonies or as a place to sign the register after an outdoor service.
Of course, many couples choose to have a ceremony outdoors in Broadfield’s stunning grounds, whether that be in our rose garden, our woods, our south facing lawns, our orchard or elsewhere. Ceremonies outside can be for numbers up to around 200, with the ability to move guests into a marquee, a tipi or under a canopy in case of bad weather.
Alternatively, you may wish to marry elsewhere and hold your reception at Broadfield. Whatever you choose to do, Broadfield is completely yours.
Your drinks reception and wedding breakfast
A favourite spot for the drinks reception is often Broadfield’s large south facing terrace, which leads down into the rose garden and the grounds beyond. Or, if the weather is not so kind, the house’s inner and outer halls work wonderfully – and should the weather call for it, the open log fires can be lit to lend to the grand but cosy atmosphere.
Broadfield has a range of options for your wedding breakfast and evening reception too. For larger wedding breakfasts and evening receptions a tipi or marquee on Broadfield’s lawns or in our fold yard is wonderful. Whether summer or winter, a tipi or marquee works so well, enabling you to enjoy the incredible views and country wedding style, while being inside a beautiful space decorated exactly as you’d like. In spring and summer you can take the sides up letting the sun stream in, while in winter fairy lights make it magical (while heaters and indoor firepits keep you warm!).
For weddings of up to around 75 people, the low beamed upper barn is a great space to dine, whether on long, informal trestles or on lovely round tables with crisp linen. For smaller weddings of around 50, Broadfield’s reception rooms can be used for your wedding breakfast, enabling you to enjoy all that a country house wedding has to offer. In summer, throw the huge bay windows open in the wood panelled dining room and, in winter, enjoy the log fires throughout Broadfield’s dining and reception rooms.
Your evening reception and outside
Our spacious Broadfield bar is included in your hire of the venue, or we are able to serve drinks from a bar inside your tipi or marquee if you’d prefer. The bar is also the perfect spot for your evening reception for smaller weddings. For larger weddings (over 50 guests), a tipi or marquee is the place to dance the night away.
Your guests will of course be able to use Broadfield’s gardens as they wish, whether taking a stroll through our quintessential kitchen garden, playing croquet on the charming lawns or stopping for pictures in the beautiful rose garden, it’s all there for them to enjoy. And the outside celebrations don’t stop as the sun goes down – guests can sit by the firepits, toast marshmallows and enjoy the tail end of the most magical day.
For your wedding breakfast, our carefully selected local Herefordshire caterers will create delicious food for your big day, whether it be a formal three course menu, a bespoke sharing experience, a relaxed barbeque or anything in between. But of course, we want you to have the food that suits your day, so if you would like to use your own choice of caterers, please just let us know.
As mentioned above, the bar at Broadfield will also be available to your guests on your big day, stocking a considered selection of wines, beers, ciders and spirits, many of which are local to Broadfield.
Broadfield is available to hire for one night, two nights or more. The house has eight delightful bedrooms for the close wedding party to stay in comfortable and elegant surroundings. One of these bedrooms is a stunning bridal suite, complete with wood paneled master bedroom, elegant modern bathroom, and a dressing room, perfect for the bride and her hens to get ready in. If you would like, this dressing room can be converted into a ninth bedroom. We can provide delicious, locally sourced food to your house guests for the duration of your stay, or you can self cater, but either way your guests will have all the home comforts you would expect.
We are able to add in up to four extra put up beds, with maximum numbers of 22 house guests. We also have cots available in addition to this.
Kirsty and Cerith, July 2022
“We are so so happy to have had our gorgeous summer wedding day at Broadfield. The house we stayed in for the wedding was stunning – amazing features, luxurious and very clean. The Broadfield grounds we used for our wedding day were incredible, we got married in the woodland and danced outside at night overlooking the beautiful views – it was just a dream! The photo opportunities are also amazing there including the sun setting over the driveway.
“The Broadfield team itself are so approachable, efficient and lovely. They make it very personal – it felt so different to so many of the ‘wedding factory’ type venues we looked around before. We felt in safe hands both leading up to our wedding and on the big day itself. Special shout out to Helen for her incredible detail and kindness! Thank you all so so much.
“If we had to do it again, we would choose Broadfield in a heartbeat. We hope to come back one day and stay for the weekend with our family.”
Sophie and Matt, June 2022
“We couldn’t have picked a better venue for our wedding. The grounds are stunning, surrounded by picturesque countryside. The house is beautiful, with so much care and attention paid to every room. We really loved being able to stay at Broadfield with our friends and family before and after the wedding.
“What made Broadfield truly great was the work that the venue’s Director Frances did both before and on the big day to ensure it was a success. Working with Frances in the run up was so easy, she was so great at helping us find suppliers and think through the day. Her help really allowed us to put our own stamp on the occasion. We had planned to have much of the day outside, but unfortunately the weather turned wet at the very last moment. Frances went above to work out how we could adapt our plans for the wet weather.
“Couldn’t recommend Broadfield highly enough.”
Fiona and William, May 2022
“What an incredibly special venue Broadfield is. We got married in Bishops Frome church and held our reception for 170 people at Broadfield. Bubbles in the rose garden followed by the wedding breakfast in Tipis (Java Tipis) on the lawn. People were exploring, playing croquet and cricket, it was all so amazing. All to the backdrop of beautiful Herefordshire countryside.
“Fran and Alex were insanely helpful from start to finish, liaising with suppliers, setting everything up and ensuring the whole day ran smoothly. Most of the suppliers (Tipis – Java Tipis & Caterers – A 2 Zest) came recommended by Broadfield and couldn’t have been better. We cannot thank them enough for all that they did.
“We had the house from Friday to Sunday and both of our families were able to stay in the gorgeous rooms for the whole weekend which was perfect.”
Katy and Jake, June 2022
“We had the most wonderful wedding weekend at Broadfield. We stayed here from Friday to Sunday with our bridal party, which worked so perfectly for allowing us to have time to set things up, and spend quality time with loved ones.
“The house feels so homely, with each room having its unique character. So much thought has been put into every room and every little detail, which really pays off. We felt very settled there right from the start. The setting and grounds are simply beautiful, typical peaceful Herefordian countryside.
“Helen and the rest of the team were very attentive on the day – nothing seemed like too much to ask, which really helped it to run smoothly. We will be highly recommending Broadfield (persuading all of our friends to have their weddings here!) to everyone we know! Thank you Helen, John, Alex, Frances and everyone else involved in making Broadfield so special.”
Polly and Marc, July 2022
“We had our wedding at Broadfield in July 2022 and it was simply the loveliest weekend. It’s owners (particularly Frances) could not have been more helpful – she made the whole wedding planning experience totally easy and stress free & we felt very reassured on the day knowing she was there to ensure everything went smoothly. She is just fab!
“The venue itself is so so beautiful. We wanted something special but not too austere/fussy and that’s exactly what Broadfield is – you’re made to feel completely at home there. So many of our guests commented on how lovely they found the venue. We honestly couldn’t have chosen a better venue & I would highly recommend it. We can’t wait to return for house stays for anniversary. Thank you so much Broadfield!”
Ella and Phil, July 2022
“Fantastic wedding venue! We had our wedding here in July, Fran and her husband Alex are incredibly attentive and Fran was particularly helpful guiding us through all the logistics of organising a wedding.
“Fran was super quick to reply to any queries or changes we wished to make which made the process all the less stressful. This in itself was worth it’s weight in gold, especially considering you can be waiting several days for some suppliers to get back to you.
“The venue is lovely with amazing gardens, woodland area and the house has real character. It’s the perfect balance between a homely feel but also high quality and a place you feel sad to leave.
“We loved the venue and experience Fran and Alex provided so much that we plan to return for a long weekend in the near future. Would highly recommend.”
